Infrared Technologies, LLC (IT) is leasing approximately 12,798 square feet of manufacturing space in Building K-1401 at the East Tennessee Technology Park's Heritage Center. Taking advantage of the site’s capability to support welding and machining operations, the company manufactures specially designed infrared heating systems. IT also offers heat treating services for manufacturing.
About the Company
IT designs, builds, and installs electric and gas catalytic infrared thermal processing systems. Used for a broad range of industrial and laboratory needs, IT manufactures machines based on customers’ concepts using computer-aided drafting (CAD) for electrical and mechanical drawings. The machine fabrication, installation, and testing are also performed by IT. IT specializes in applying infrared technologies to heat and process metals, plastics, and ceramics.
Some commercial applications stem from research conducted at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. As applied by IT, infrared systems can be directed to specific areas and provide even heating, regardless of shape. Infrared technology also shows promise in decontaminating concrete.

Because of the high efficiency of infrared heating, energy costs are significantly lower than those of other heating methods.
Smarter
IT manufactures electric infrared furnace systems that feature an application of artificial intelligence called fuzzy logic. This capability allows adaptive tuning and flexible programming in IT systems that operate according to unknown variables.
Faster
IT has delivered and installed custom-designed heater and power supply control systems that enable a full range of part sizes without furnace tooling changes. The system was found by clients to be 25 percent faster in joining parts.
