National Wireless Telecom
This location serves the Oak Ridge Turnpike area, Horizon Center Business Park, as well as several residential sub-divisions in an area approximately 6 miles in diameter. It provides cellular and Emergency 911 service to all of these areas, which prior to the tower construction had no service. This was a joint project between the Department of Energy, CROET, and National Wireless Telecom. The benefits to the community and the City of Oak Ridge are significant, as further development of Oak Ridge is heavily dependent upon cellular coverage. This particular location was selected by the Radio Frequency Engineers with SunCom in an effort to maximize the coverage area while minimizing the number of towers needed to serve the area. National Wireless Telecom constructs multi-tenant towers to accommodate as many carriers as possible reducing the need for multiple towers.
