About the Lease
Southern Freight Logistics, LLC (SFL) is a warehousing, trucking, air, and rail transportation company. They lease about 90,000 square feet at East Tennessee Technology Park's Heritage Center. Southern Freight Logistics, LLC has earned permits to transport hazardous wastes or materials by the State of Tennessee, by the U.S. Department of Transportation, and by the Interstate Commerce Commission.
The members of the SFL consortium have over 75 years of combined experience in the transportation industry.
Location
A major advantage to the company is the Heritage Center's proximity to Interstates 40 and 75, two of the main interstates linking the eastern portion of the United States. In fact, Oak Ridge, Tennessee is located within one days drive of more than 65 percent of major U.S. metropolitan areas.
Other advantages SFL enjoys in this location include use of existing utilities and infrastructure. The center offers large, clean warehouse space, docking facilities, office space, and use of heavy-duty cranes. Natural gas, sanitary sewer, potable water, fire mains, and industrial electric service are also available.
About the Company
SFL is a consortium comprised of five transportation businesses, all of which are operated from the company's headquarters at Heritage Center. In Building K-1036, one subsidiary, Southern Freight Warehousing and Distribution operates a storage and distribution center, using the latest technology available for warehousing and distribution of nonhazardous materials.SFL's Southern Freight Express is a trucking service for shipments of any size, serving the continental United States and Canada 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Lakeway Trucking is a long-haul truckload carrier that serves the continental United States and Canada. Lakeway trucks, owned by SFL, include 130 truck tractors and 250 dry and 35 refrigerated carrier trailers.
Southern Air Logistics, also part of the SFL consortium, specializes in the air transport of both cargo and personnel moving. They provide services worldwide.
Southern Freight Railroad is a "handling line" for Norfolk Southern Railroad, serving both DOE and various contractors in ETTP. Norfolk Southern provides rail service throughout the North American continent.
